Ni hao! I now live in China!

Hello Again World!

At this very moment, I’m sitting in Baker&Spice (a chic café) in electric and eclectic Beijing. Yes, I now reside in Beijing, China! Before I get into the meat and potatoes of why I’m here, I first want to thank you for visiting my blog. Thank you! It’s been over 3 years since last I published anything on this blog. My last blog posts were full of joy about my findings in Copenhagen. I fell head over heels in love with the city and was determined to live Denmark full time. I even found a job there! Oh yeah, when I’m that smitten with anything, it’s ALL or Nothing. Long story short (too late), I didn’t end up moving there and as a result, kind of fell into a funk and well, I just buried myself in work and trying “bloom” where I was planted which was in little ole’ Richmond, Virginia.

Do not get me wrong, Richmond, VA. is, now, quite a wonderful city. It’s festivals, James River, architecture, THE FAN! makes this the ideal small city with a big city ambitions without the attitude. HA! I wrongly did not blog about all of the wonderful things I found and inspired me. During my six years in Richmond, I developed deeper relationships with close friends, spent time speaking with cherished family members and found True Love. Thank you, God. Thank you, Richmond. Thank you, Universe.

So why am I now living in Beijing? Well, living in the States is EXPENSIVE and if I want to reach my financial goals, I’d be better off working in a country that reveres and respects my profession and financially and professionally supports their teachers. Hello, China! Now you know, it’s difficult being away from my fiancé (oh yes, we’re gettin’ hitched!) but what’s even more difficult is having to work two jobs and still not progressing. See, that’s something that I cannot abide by: NOT MOVING FORWARD IN LIFE. I initially planned on returning to South Korea, but the market is a bit saturated there and when a great opportunity presented itself to me, it was wrapped up in an attractive package marked China.

So, ladies and gentleman, in the words of my dear Aunt Patricia: “A girl’s gotta do, what a girl’s gotta do.” I’m doing it, Aunt Pat and doing it well! Seeing the world, teaching incredible students and getting my financial house in order!

Welcome to my blog! Here I will share with you my discoveries in Beijing and China at large as it concerns architecture, travel, design and lifestyle. I’ve been here now three whole weeks, but it feels like three months. I know that this was the right move for me. I wanted to shake up my life and dear reader I’m the one who’s SHOOKETH! Ha! Stayed tuned. I am going to post regularly here as well as film vlog posts on Youtube. I’ll give you more details in my next post coming up very soon! Thank you and welcome to Nonpave!
