Dansk Made For Rooms: The Last Shall be the First.

All photos by Felicia Shelton Walking and biking all over Copenhagen, I came across several gems in the capital’s design crown. Dansk was my last stop during my visit to Copenhagen and wow, I must say, that I liked it more than all of the others. Why? It was smaller, more intimate. I felt as if I was actually at an artist’s studio or an actual design studio. Every object felt especially curated for that shop based on what the company wants to share with their customer not nec

A moment in Nørrebro: The Paris of The North

Hello everyone, I’ve been away for a while dealing with a major change within my family. I’m slowly but surely moving forward but let’s just say that this change, this loss has made me realize how glad I am to be in the United States, close to the ones I love the most and who love me. I’ve missed you. Let’s move forward together shall we? I cannot deny that Copenhagen is now a part of me, one that I will continue to share with all of you. I know I know, it’s been about two mo

For The Love of Summer: Dive into Summer at Island’s Brygge!

Hello All! Now if you’re in America, in the South especially, summer is not going anywhere anytime soon. It’s so hot and sunny (not complaining but kinda’ am) that most people run for cover even after a couple of hours at the beach. Summer doesn’t last as long in the northern hemisphere. I met some really interesting people when I was Copenhagen and they’ve since told me that the Fall is in full effect. They’re so lucky. My photos here were taken at Island’s Brygge. Next time

Bahn Mi: Cooling off with a spicy dish in Denmark

Some things you just can’t keep to yourself. Today I want to share with you a lunch spot I’m planning on visiting again and again in Copenhagen: Bahn Mi . As I may have mentioned in an earlier post, the week that I was in Denmark was the hottest it had been in ten years. Eating this cool, wholesome mixture of vermicelli noodles and fresh vegetables was a welcome respite from the sun and humidity. Bahn Mi is located in hip-as-hades Nørrebro. I like this district because you co

Gröd: Danish porridge, the breakfast of Vikings!

I almost didn’t take a picture because I was so hungry. Glad that I did. Good morning everyone! One of the highlights of traveling is tasting the cuisine. Whether you’re about to bite into your first pain au chocolat or sip your first soju, food is how you can experience and delight in a new culture. One of my favorite meals of the day is breakfast. There’s nothing like cooking a healthy and delicious breakfast to start my day before heading out into the world. I cannot eat j

Riding a Bike for the First Time : Joy on Two Wheels in Copenhagen

Copenhagen has been heralded as the number one city for cycling in the world. The World! Being there for a week, seeing this beautiful city on two wheels completely put me in another frame of mind. I was now obliged to rely on two wheels, not four, to get anywhere I wanted to go and it put a smile on my face every second of the journey! Here I was in Copenhagen where pedestrians and cyclists are respected and protected! Imagine that! Happy! Happy! Joy! Joy! Claus Hjelm of Rec

To Fika in Copenhagen: Where are the real cafés in America?

Fika? If you don’t know what the word means, it’s Swedish and it means “to have a coffee” or “to take a coffee break”. While recently in Copenhagen I had plenty of opportunities to fika. I loved their cafés, I don’t know how many times I stopped to fika just so that I could take a closer look at the décor and of course, taste some real coffee. I’d moved to Sweden some years ago and was an immigrant for the first time in my life. One of the things that staved off the gloom tha

    Time to Hit the Hay!

Hello Everyone! I shared with you some boutique images in my previous post shot around Copenhagen. One of those images was shot at the most talked about design concept store in Denmark and the design world: Hay. I first discovered this brand while photographing and blogging about Maison et Objet when I lived in Paris. I remember being surprised at the fun and chic home accessories in beautiful colors. I was instantly attracted to the simple lines and varying textures and colo

    Strike a Pose!

Hello everyone! I cannot remember not having a camera in my possession. I remember my mom giving me a cool Polaroid instant camera as a child. When I aimed at my subject, pressed the button and heard that crazy gnarling sound, my heart skipped a beat. I sometimes had to walk away from the film while it was developing, so excited I was! Well, times have changed and I realized if I want my new blog to feel more intimate perhaps I need to start with letting people know me a litt

    Airbnb: My first experience

Hello everyone! I’m so happy to say that I’ve completely fallen in love with the city of Copenhagen. Before I annoy you with how everything is better here in Copenhagen than in other cities, well, let’s talk about my gorgeous apt! I’m so fortunate to have found this impeccably decorated apt on Airbnb. It’s located in Westerbro, : a chic neighborhood that hasn’t been gentrified to death. Danes don’t boast or brag about anything (love that) but every time I say where my apt. i
